Notes on Doing Research and Writing
Research Papers
Students are responsible for conducting thorough
and credible research. The following links -- each to "places" on the
Purdue University OWL (Online Writing Lab) -- should be referred to *always*.
They provide you with sound advice and guidelines concerning everthing from planning
your research and assessing your electronic sources to the mechanics of citing
your sources in your text and listing them at the end of your paper. I will expect
students to follow the advice and guidelines contained in these links. You can
elect whether to employ APA or MLA format, but in any case, it will be important
for you to review all the other material on research skills and the actual construction
of your paper.
